Girls Day Inn

This morning, around 3am, I woke up to Miss Charlotte sleeping at the end of our bed.  Guess she realized halfway though the night that Chelsea was sleeping so close to her and she panicked.  So I put her back in her blanket next to Chelsea, and she stayed like a good girl and slept there for the next few hours until we all got up.

Chelsea still won't get up on her own.  We have to pick her up to move her from room to room.  She has what I call a "safety blanket".   It's the blanket that she climbs into whenever she is looking to lay down and feel safe.  So when we put it on the couch, she climbs up into it.

Last night, Rob and I put her on the floor hoping she'd go get some food and water (I've been hand feeding her because she won't touch the food in the bowl).   As soon as I put her on the floor she took off running.  It's almost like a game she plays.  She runs and hides and then pops out and stares at us until someone makes eye contact with her and she runs again.  So we ignore her while she watches us.  To keep her from jumping back on the couch, Rob laid on one couch and I laid on the other.  She stuck to me like glue.  She stayed by my legs, watching Rob, then looking up at me every so often.  Finally she jumped up and settled onto the couch next to me.   I'm wondering if she feels a bond with me because I have been home with her the most amount of time?

So today I did a little experiment.  I had lots of errands to run and Rob's car is in the shop, so I took him to work.  I brought Charlotte along for the ride so Chelsea could have the house to herself to sniff and explore without anyone scaring her.  When we came back, she was still on the couch in the same spot.

I had to head to the post office and stop at a few stores, so this time I left Charlotte and Chelsea home together.   When I came back, Chelsea was still on the couch sleeping and Charlotte had been the naughty one who peed on the kitchen floor.  I expect this from Charlotte though.  She always has accidents when she is mad at us.

But other than that, the girls seemed to avoid each other which is good because I had feared that it could be a disaster.  Even though both girls seem very docile and don't like confrontation, you never know when a snap could happen.

I may take Charlotte and leave Chelsea alone again while I go to get Rob from work.   This time before I leave I'm going to take her off the couch to get her active a bit and maybe then she'll stay up and explore.  She is sleeping a LOT and for a 1 year old puppy I am unsure if that is normal.  Maybe it is depression?  Or maybe she is following Charlottes cue yet again.  Since Char is such an old lady she sleeps more than she is awake, so who knows.

Here is Chels trying to decide if she wants to play with the ball...

So unsure...

And here is her taking a nap today.

I noticed that she dreams an awful lot.  She is a very active dreaming.  Her eyes move all around and her paws and face twitch.  I wonder what she dreams about.

I also noticed she sometimes sticks her tongue out while she sleeps, like if she was blowing raspberries.   It's so cute and I'm trying to catch a photo of it but every time I get close to take one she wakes up.
